In addition to being taught the German language, students also learn about Germanic culture.
Each December, there is a Christmas concert (Weihnachtskonzert) on the last Saturday morning school before the break, with a visit by Santa Claus (Sankt Nikolaus), a potluck lunch for all the families and guests, and a German book sale.
In the Spring there is an outdoor Easter egg hunt, along with outdoor games.
To wrap up the year, there is an outdoor BBQ and games.
The school provides the opportunity for the children to learn music and participate in a German children's choir, which meets weekly from 12:15pm to 1:15pm, after classes.
Because the school rents space from Bowcroft Elementary School, which runs a day-time German Bilingual program, students are in a German language environment. The Saturday morning children enjoy the benefits of a mid-morning recess, and there is an indoor gym that can be used when the weather does not allow the students to play outdoors in the field and on the playground equipment.
